A semi-technical talk on design principals, schematic diagram, operating characteristics, and component selection for building a traditional spark gap type Tesla Coil. Concludes with a demo of the traditional spark gap type Tesla Coil (500,000 volts, 3 foot arcs), and a short demo of the vacuum tube Tesla Coil. People with implanted medical electronics should not attend these demos due to the strong Electric and Magnetic fields generated by these apparatus.
