6:00pm I Like to Paint Monsters – Documentary – USA – PG-13 Director: Jason Hawkens I Like to Paint Monsters examines the life and career of Chet Zar, Painter of Dark. Zar is known for his work as a Special FX artist on Hellboy and Hellboy II, among many other Hollywood blockbusters, as well as his music video and live performance work with the world renowned band TOOL. After becoming disheartened with the film industry, Zar 'followed his bliss' and began painting monsters for a living. A forerunner of the Dark Art movement, Zar tackles difficult social situations with his enigmatic and iconic artwork! Enter an all-encompassing and introspective view of Zar's worlds. Sometimes gruesome, periodically funny, but always thought provoking, Zar's art is at once as enigmatic as it is frightening. But what about the man behind the paintbrush? Who is Chet Zar and why does he like to paint monsters? This is the primary question at the heart of the documentary. 7:20pm The Future Perfect – SF&F – Canada – PG-13 Director: Nick Citton Somewhere between then and now, a time traveler defies his orders, and compromises a future he cannot un-learn. 7:31pm The Last Generation to Die – SF&F – USA – PG-13 Director: Tim Maupin Set in the future when science first begins to stop aging, a daughter tries to save her father from natural death. 7:47pm Singularity – SF&F - Australia Director: Samuel Jørgensen In the midst of a war between humans and sentient androids, a Delta Force team must battle a dangerous enemy to rescue the US President. 7:56pm Toonocalypse – SF&F – UK – PG-13 Director: Owen Rixon Two students document the arrival of cute, cartoon aliens in Edinburgh, but after a year on Earth, the pair discover the true intention of the aliens visit. 8:16pm Younglings – SF&F - USA Director: Stuart Baker BLADE RUNNER meets BLAZING SADDLES in a dark, sci-fi comedy about a poker-night pop-culture smackdown between geriatric nerds of the future. 8:25pm The Machine Stopped Working – SF&F - UK – PG-13 Director: Anthony Melton In a far flung future a crumbling band of survivors hang on to a perishing memory of a once great civilization.
