The advent of the mechanical shutter mechanism and how it changed the development of the modern camera. The mechanical shutter, with its spring-loaded leaf blades, allowed film makers to create faster film, and so made it possible to capture moving subjects in photography. I will bring several examples of early shutters and go over function, as well as how they were manufactured and serviced.
