My particular hobby horse (though I'm not overly preachy about it) is what I consider the Answer to most of our problems: I think getting human society off Earth is pretty much the only hope for humanity and most other life forms on the planet. I favor O'Neill cylinders and other space settlement designs over planets... So much more space, energy, and pleasant environments. A hundred times the surface of the Earth, with any climate one wants. Make the Earth a park.
